 s and Early Career Academics
DESCRIPTION:Teaching in higher education is as much about navigating people
 \, policies\, and programmes as it is about standing at the front of a cla
 ssroom. UKAIS invites you to this interactive workshop on 26th November\, 
 which draws on over 60 years of collective experience to explore the pract
 icalities of academic life: leading modules\, developing curricula\, and d
 elivering engaging sessions. Through real-world scenarios\, collaborative 
 activities\, and open discussion\, you’ll gain insights into the everyda
 y challenges and joys of university teaching. Come for the coffee\, stay f
 or the stories\, and leave with practical tools (and confidence) to shape 
 your own teaching journey.\n\nWho is the workshop for? The workshop is for
  those starting on their learning and teaching journey. It is suitable for
  PGR (PhD and DBA) students as well as for those in the early years of the
 ir academic careers. It is open to UKAIS members and non-members.\nWhat wi
 ll be the key takeaways? You will work on practical scenarios to understan
 d and develop the key skills needed to lead modules\, develop module conte
 nt\, and manage the practical delivery of teaching in challenging HE envir
 onments. Additionally\, all workshop attendees will receive a Certificate 
 of Attendance.\nWhat does it cost? The workshop is free to attend. Refresh

 pm Wrap up and Close\n\nWorkshop Organisers\n\n\nDr Marie Griffiths is a P
 rofessor at Salford Business School. Marie is an experienced academic lead
 er with over twenty years in HE. She is the current Programme Leader for t
 he MSc Managing Innovation and IT and the MSc Managing AI in Business and 
 has previously served as Director of Postgraduate Research. Marie was also
  President of the UKAIS (2019-2020). Her teaching experience spans undergr
 aduate\, postgraduate\, and postgraduate research levels\, as well as prof
 essional development for educators. Marie is deeply committed to innovativ
 e\, practice-informed pedagogy and the co-creation of knowledge with stude
 nts.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nDr Maria Kutar is a Reader and Director of Undergra
 duate Business Management at Salford Business School. She is the Learning 
 and Teaching lead for the UKAIS and has been a member of the board since 2
 015. Maria is an experienced academic leader and has 25 years of experienc
 e teaching in HE. Currently the Director for a suite of 11 UG degree progr
 ammes\, she has led significant curriculum development projects\, chaired 
 review panels\, and developed\, led and delivered modules small and large 
 at all levels of study. Maria is the recipient of 3 Vice-Chancellor’s Di
 stinguished Teaching Awards and a Student Union Teaching Award. Her teachi
 ng uses inquiry-based pedagogies to foster deep learning\; an important fo
 cus is to foster creativity in students through the use of varied learning
  and assessment activities.\n\n\n\nDr Oliver Kayas is a Senior Lecturer in
  Digital Business at Liverpool John Moores University. He is also the curr
 ent President of the UKAIS and has been a Director of the Board since 20
 15. He has extensive teaching experience at national and international ins
 titutions\, having led multiple programme reviews\, developed countless mo
 dules\, and delivered on a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate
  modules. Oliver also has extensive experience teaching undergraduate and 
 postgraduate apprenticeships\, having served as a Pathway Lead for the Dig
 ital Technology Solutions degree apprenticeship.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTravel info
 rmation\nThe University of Salford is readily accessible by public transpo
 rt. Salford Crescent train station is a couple of minutes walk from campus
  with regular services from Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria.
