SUMMARY:Toward a process-based\, interpretative understanding of how collab
orative groups deal with ICT interruptions
DESCRIPTION:AIMtech research centre invites you to the following hybrid sem
 inar:\n\n“Toward a process-based\, interpretative understanding of how c
ollaborative groups deal with ICT interruptions”\n\n Date: 10 May 2024
 \n\n\n Time: 10 am – 11 am\n Location: Maurice Keyworth 1.44 (Hybrid
 – Teams link below)\n Speaker: Professor Virpi Tuunainen (Aalto Univer
sity)\n\nAbstract\n\nIn this seminar Professor Tuunainen will explore cont
emporary knowledge workers collaboration in hybrid work environment and ho
w they deal with ICT interruptions. She investigates how do knowledge work
ers deal with such interruptions to ensure the smooth continuation of thei
r collaboration? Previous studies\, for the most part\, suggest that inter
ruptions are likely to negatively affect the process of collaboration\, ye
t they’ve found that in many instances\, knowledge workers continue to c
ollaborate smoothly despite receiving ICT interruptions and even attending
to them. In other words\, ICT interruptions do not always discernibly aff
ect the collaborative process. Using the concepts from Goffman's work\, sh
e will offer a novel understanding of how group members can seamlessly han
dle ICT interruptions\, avoiding and\, in certain cases\, recovering from
serious disruptions in collaboration.\n\nSpeaker\n\nProfessor Virpi Kristi
ina Tuunainen: Virpi is Associate Dean of Research and International Coope
ration and Professor of Information Systems Science (Department of Informa
tion and Service Management) at Aalto University School of Business\, and
past director of Aalto University Service Factory (2010-2015). She was a J

on platform economy and AI based services. Her work has appeared in journa
