Call for papers
As we move into the 2nd quarter of the 21st century, we can see that technology in all its forms is becoming more and more key to our everyday lives. For example, the UK government has recently rolled out its intentions for AI, in their “AI Opportunities Action Plan” (January 2025). However, while technology promises many things for society across the globe, there are also downsides and negative effects, from the disparity across different parts of the world, to questions about transparency, privacy and security. To this end, this conference encourages submissions to critically examine the role of technology in society, challenging the set of assumptions and generating new ideas on how we can employ technology to make the world a better place.
We invite full papers (completed research) and developmental papers (research in progress). Please follow the conference formatting template provided on the UKAIS website here.
Full papers of 5000-7000 words (excluding references) should document established results and will be presented according to the highest academic standards. Allocation of a 20-minute presentation time, followed by 10 minutes Q&A. Selected papers will be uploaded to the AIS eLibrary.
Developmental papers of 1500-2000 words (excluding references) should document research in progress and will be presented according to the highest academic standards. Allocation of a 15-minute presentation time, followed by 5 minutes Q&A. UKAIS actively encourages submissions from early career researchers. The purpose of the development paper is to enable researchers to discuss their work while it is in an early stage, so comments and feedback obtained at the event can be incorporated in the final stages of research and writing up.
