Kieran Conboy, Professor in Business Information Systems, School of Business & Economics, the University of Galway

Title: The Timing and Flow of Digital Responsibility

Kieran Conboy is a Professor in the School of Business & Economics at the University of Galway and is a co-Principal Investigator in the Lero Irish Software research centre. He previously worked for Accenture Consulting and the University of New South Wales in Australia. He is the incoming editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Information Systems and has chaired international conferences in his field. He is also on the board of the Irish Research Council, and has previously been Head of the School of Business as well as Dean of Business, Public Policy & Law. Kieran has published over 150 articles in leading international journals and conferences including Information Systems Research, the European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, the Journal of the AIS, IEEE Software, the International Conference in Information Systems and the European Conference in Information Systems.

Marina Jirotka, Professor of Human Centred Computing, Oxford University

Marina Jirotka is Professor of Human Centred Computing in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and Governing Body Fellow of St Cross College. She leads an interdisciplinary research group in that combines both social and computer science approaches to the design of technology – the group research into methods and approaches for building and evaluating technology responsibly in ways to enhance individual autonomy, wellbeing and promote and protect human values. Marina is an EPSRC Established Career Fellow conducting a five-year investigation into Developing Responsible Robotics for the Digital Economy. She is Director of the Responsible Technology Institute at Oxford, and she is co-director of the Observatory for Responsible Research and Innovation in ICT Ltd which provides Responsible Innovation (RI) services and training to ICT researchers and practitioners; she is also Editor in Chief of the Journal of Responsible Technology. She was specialist advisor to the House of Lords Select Committee on Communications for their inquiry into Children and the Internet and sits on the Steering Committee for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Data Analytics; Marina is a Chartered IT Professional of the British Computer Society where she is a member of the ICT Ethics Specialist Group committee. She was elected to the UK Computing Research Community (UKCRC) a highly selective grouping of the UK’s leading computing academics. She has published widely in international journals and conferences including Human Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Responsible Innovation.

Ozgur Savas is a technology leader specialised in Cloud networking and Internet security. Currently, he holds the position of VP of Global Solutions Consulting at Zscaler, a leading security company. Before joining Zscaler, he was the Senior Director of Solutions Engineering and Head of EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) at Cloudflare, which is world’s leading Internet performance, security, and reliability company, powering more than 25% of the Internet. He has spent 20 years at Cisco, where he served in various Director, Manager, and Engineer roles. Throughout his career, Ozgur Savas has worked extensively with Internet infrastructure, Security, and Communication technologies, constantly staying at the forefront of state-of-the-art developments. He holds Computer Engineering BSc and MSc degrees from Istanbul Technical University, as well as an MBA in International Business Management from Royal Holloway, University of London. Ozgur Savas is also a certified Executive Coach who offers pro-bono leadership coaching and mentoring to technology leaders worldwide. Outside of work, he resides in Surrey with his wife and two children, as well as two German Shepherd dogs. Ozgur Savas has diverse interests including diving, Aikido, and supporting his football team Galatasaray.
