Salary is £33,797 per annum pro rata. London Allowance of £2,134 will be payable in addition to salary.
The Digital Security by Design (DSbD) Programme, supported through the ISCF, aims to radically update the digital infrastructure currently underpinning the global economy, making it secure against future threats. Discribe is one part of this wider initiative, with funding in place until 2024. The Regulation and Policy work stream, led by Royal Holloway University of London, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to be based at Royal Holloway with the aim to examine the Digital Security by Design Programme and the technologies that it produces through a Science Technology and Society (STS) studies or related sociotechnical lens.
We are seeking candidates with a relevant PhD, that have designed and carried socio-technical studies in a relevant area and with an interest in digital security technology design and practice. The successful candidate will be able to design and carry out independent research, conduct research that can successfully interrogate the social, cultural and political meanings of technology and relate the findings to the programme’s wider body of interdisciplinary knowledge.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
Additional Information: The ISG is amongst the largest departments dedicated to information/cyber security in the world with circa 20 academic staff in the department, as well as research and support staff. We are an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR), we host a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Cyber Security and have circa 70 PhD students working across a wide range of security research. We are excited to have received new funding for our CDT which allows us to offer 10 fully funded PhD scholarships for the next 5 years. Our PhD students undertake cutting edge and innovative research that has won national and international awards.
