The UK Academy of Information Systems invites Doctoral Students (PhD and DBA), with an interest in Information Systems and Digital Transformation, for a dynamic, full-day workshop. The workshop is designed to support Doctoral Students at all stages of their research journey toward publishing from their doctoral research.

It will be an interactive session, bringing Doctoral Students and Faculty together, to explore key aspects of publishing, ranging from refining the motivation, problematisation, and research questions, to identifying potential contributions and relevant outlets.

Interested Doctoral Students will need to submit their work ahead of the workshop. This work can be a draft or an outline of a paper they are currently working on, or a previously submitted but rejected paper. The purpose is for the students to share their work with Faculty and other Doctoral Students and through this, to receive feedback, which they can then use to further develop their work for a possible journal paper submission (at a later date).

The workshop is open to UKAIS and non-UKAIS members alike.

Academic Mentors include:

  • Dr. Oliver Kayas, Senior Lecturer in Digital Business, Liverpool Business School
  • Dr. Efpraxia Zamani, Professor in Information Systems, Durham University.
  • Dr. Yu-Chun Pan, Associate Professor in Digital Transformation, Northeastern University London
  • Dr. Sian Joel-Edgar, Associate Professor in Human-Centred Computing, Northeastern University, London
  • Dr. Victoria Uren, Senior Lecturer Business Information Systems, Aston University

Registration: To attend the event, Doctoral Students must register via the form below and then submit their draft proposal by 29 May 2026.  Please submit your draft proposal via email: contactus@ukais.org. Submissions should not exceed 3 A4 pages (font size no less than 11pt), and they need to clearly indicate: the significance and the motivation behind the research; methodological concerns; potential contributions. They all need to have an abstract of no more than 250 words. If you do not submit your draft proposal by 29 May, your place at the event will be cancelled and given to the next person on our waiting list.

Note: The workshop has a capacity of 30 students. Participants will be accepted on a first come-first serve basis.
